Our Story
Hello, I’m Dee, wood florist at Back Bay Wood Flowers. I started working with wood flowers in 2017 as we were planning my daughter’s wedding. While studying this skill I soon realized how beautiful these flowers could be! My daughter’s wood flower bouquet from her 2019 wedding is still on display today! Since wood flowers won’t wilt or die, she has an everlasting memory of her special day! The thing I love about working with wood flowers is my creative outlet was also able to bring joy to others. I continued learning my skills and gifted many arrangements.
At the encouragement of family and friends in 2020 Back Bay Wood Flowers was established. This is truly a family affair with my daughter Jessica and husband Steven working behind the scenes.
Jessica is the photographer, social media and website manager. She also loves to sew and will offer her handmade items on our site. Jessica learned to sew in 2020, when it was necessary for everyone to wear masks, but none were to be found. Now, although she will still make masks if asked, she loves to be creative with her sewing skills.
Steven is a Master Carpenter and makes the wooden plaques and boxes used for décor pieces. He is also priceless when it comes to shows and always makes sure logistics are taken care of.
We hope you enjoy our wood flower décor and arrangements as much as we enjoy the unique and creative ways they can brighten your home décor, special event or gift for a loved one or friend.

What Are Wood Flowers?
Wood flowers, also known as “Sola flowers” are not fresh flowers. They are handmade from wood. The texture is similar to a thin version of balsa wood. Because they are handmade from natural materials, no two are exactly alike. Brown veining and occasional small holes from a knot in the wood are normal and add to the natural look of these flowers. Care is taken to soften the flowers and they can be dyed any color or left in their natural cream state. Some flowers are made with the bark remaining and will be a brown color.
Wood flowers are easy to care for and a wonderful alternative for use in home or commercial décor, bridal florals and unique gifts.
Care Instructions
Your arrangement can give you years of enjoyment with simple care instructions:
- Keep flowers in a dry location. They are not meant to be kept outdoors.
- Direct sunlight can fade the color of dyed arrangements.
- If your arrangement needs dusting, please use a low cool setting from a hair dryer.
